Superman comic series

The original Superman comic series, created by writer Jerry Siegel and artist Joe Shuster, debuted in June 1938 with Action Comics #1, introducing the world to Superman. The character’s popularity led to his own series, started with Superman no 1, which began in 1939. This series chronicled the adventures of Clark Kent, an alien from the planet Krypton who, after being sent to Earth as a baby, uses his almost godly powers to protect humanity. The series was groundbreaking, establishing many conventions of the superhero genre and making Superman an iconic figure in American pop culture. Over the years, numerous writers and artists contributed to the series, expanding Superman’s universe and introducing new characters and storylines. The original run of Superman continued for decades, undergoing various reboots and iterations.

Superman #1

Superman number 1, published by DC Comics in June 1939, was the first comic book dedicated entirely to a single superhero, following Superman’s debut in “Action Comics #1” in 1938. Created by writer Jerry Siegel and artist Joe Shuster, Superman issue 1 tells us about Superman’s origins, chronicling his journey from the doomed planet Krypton to his upbringing on Earth as Clark Kent. The narrative of Superman #1 comic 1939 shows his early heroic deeds, including rescuing innocents and combating corruption, creating the foundation for his dual life as a mild-mannered reporter and a hero.

How much is the superman comic #1

Even in the lowest grades, Superman #1 comic value can command substantial sums. For instance, a copy graded CGC 0.5 (Poor) sold for $300,000. Initially sold for 10 cents, “Superman #1” has become a highly desired collector’s item. In January 2022, a rare copy graded 8.0 by CGC, known as the Edgar Church/Mile High copy, was sold privately for a mindblowing $5.3 million. Overall, the rule here is the same as usual – the better the condition, the bigger the Superman comic 1 value. But this issue holds such a great historical significance, that even very poorly graded copies can cost dozens, even hundreds of thousands dollars.
