Why New Mutants #98 Is Valuable
New Mutants #98 introduced Deadpool, created by Rob Liefeld and Fabian Nicieza. The same issue also introduced Domino and Gideon. Deadpool grew from a one-off villain into one of Marvel's most popular characters, with three hit movies, which made this the most important Modern Age key of the early 1990s.

Newsstand, Direct Edition or Facsimile?
- Newsstand edition: has a UPC barcode in the lower left corner. Fewer were sold, and they sell for more in high grade.
- Direct edition: sold in comic shops, with a Spider-Man head or artwork in place of the barcode. This is the most common version.
- Facsimile edition: a modern reprint (2019) that says "Facsimile Edition" on the cover and has a modern price. Worth about $100 even in CGC 9.8.
- Signed copies graded by CGC Signature Series (yellow label) sell for more, but an unwitnessed signature can lower the value of a raw copy.
